There’s something about a girls’ weekend that resets the soul. The Dabs Darlings’ trip to KZN was exactly that—an escape filled with adventure, reflection, and pure, reckless laughter.
Standing at the edge of the ocean, watching the waves crash against the shore, I felt the wild energy of the sea daring me to take it on. The swells were relentless, the currents unpredictable, but something inside me refused to back down.
As I dove in, the water tested me, shook me, but never broke me. The sea reminded me of my own strength, my ability to face the chaos and come out on the other side, lighter and renewed.
The thrill of adventure wasn’t just in the waves but in the sheer joy of experiencing it together. Surfing a powerful downwind in high swells, we glided effortlessly across the water, reaching exhilarating speeds.
From the crest of the waves, the view was breathtaking—the old whale station, the Durban Harbour pier, the endless stretch of shoreline all in one sweeping glance. The rain came down softly, blurring the horizon, but we were already soaked, already lost in the rhythm of the ocean. A few hard paddle strokes, a well-timed tap on a wave, and we were flying.
Beyond the adventure, it was the small moments that made the weekend unforgettable—sitting side by side on the sand, watching the waves crash, sharing a rare stillness. The walls of water, the ridiculous charades that left us breathless with laughter, and the comfort of doing nothing at all. Living life fully, not just for others but for ourselves. We returned home with aching muscles, lighter hearts, and a renewed sense of balance, grateful for the reminder that life isn’t just about pushing forward—it’s about pausing, laughing, and embracing the wild beauty of the moment.
