Three weeks ago, we were celebrating a whole lot of first after the Umko, and two weeks back we were recognizing our Dabulamanzi Darlings for heading off to Durban on their first tour when they went on a surfski trip. On Saturday our girls and guys were ticking off more firsts. Well done to Caren, Renchi and Michelle Reitsman who all did their first ever canoe race at Florida this weekend – we are super proud of you, onwards and upwards! Well done to Clint cook who came first ahead of Brad B. Luke was 4th and first Under 18 while Bruno was 5th and first Under 16. Respect also to Karen who was our first lady home, followed by Gabbi – well done ladies! In total the 10 and 20km races attracted 68 paddlers of which 22 from Dabs, and all enjoyed the change of scenery. For those considering doing Berg or the winter season, Marathons should be a must – next weekend is a K2 event at JCC, so find a partner and enter!
