Saturday showed some signs of summer warmth for the Florida Flat Water Race, a 20km main event and a 5km race for the Guppies. Well done to young Kyle Armdorf for claiming yet another win. In the main race Wayne and Brad took the win as expected, followed closely by Luke and Bruno, who are looking really strong for U18’s. This was their last local event before they head off to the ICF Marathon World Champs in Vejen Denmark. Good luck and make us proud boys and girls! First K1 home at Florida was Sibusiso, first MD was Ryan and Elandrie and the first ladies home were Tinyiko and Mahwayi, followed by Sylvia and Pippa. Well done to all who supported Delport’s FLCC race – and its good to see Delport starting to train again after a long layoff.

Good luck also to the birthday boy Nic Weeks who is in Duisburg for the Sprint World Championships which serves as an Olympic qualifier. Nic is racing the K2 500m with Chrisjan Coetzee on Thursday morning. Also there from South Africa are Henry van der Walt for the Mens 200m and Callam Davis in the Mens 1000m. Esti Olivier is SA’s only lady, she is racing both the 200m and the 500m and is a real medal contender. Good luck to all, we hope you make it to Paris for the 2024 Olympics.

And we also hope that lots of us (and you and them) make it to the Liebenbergsvlei. Its good clean water and there are some fun rapids to test the river skills. Does anyone know who the elite paddlers busy swimming in the picture below are? Anyway, entries are open, get yours in now!
